Standards of the Disciple
The following items are our school's
code of conduct. While the basic nature of these standards seems
self explanatory, they also have a deeper meaning. As you walk the
warrior's path try to see how the Standards of the Disciple can
be applied in all that you do.
1. Practice good standards of
mental and personal hygiene by practicing self-discipline and having
pride in yourself and your uniform.
2. Have faith in your teacher(s) (Sifu). Without a strong belief
in your teacher learning cannot be achieved.
3. Concentrate during training. Clear your mind of all thought except
for the exercise you are working on. This will help you achieve
a more solid understanding of fundamentals.
4. Cultivate patience during training. Your goals will be reached
in time if you are diligent.
5. Practice coordination during training. The ability to move with
a harmonious and instantaneous adjustment to any situation will
provide a more immediate mastery of the art.
6. Practice as much as possible, not only in class, but also at
home. Every hour of practice will deepen your foundation to prepare
you for a higher level of training.
7. Acquire confidence in yourself through the martial arts. This
state of mind implies a cool self reliance under all circumstances.
It offers the assurance of poise and prowess in the face of danger.
